Commander addresses Airmen at ‘all call’ Published May 21, 2008 By Airman Amber Kelly-Woodward 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Four wing all calls were held for all 375th Airlift Wing personnel May 15 and 16 by Col. Al Hunt, 375th AW commander. Colonel Hunt began the presentation by highlighting the 58th annual Belle-Scott dinner. He also revealed the unfortunate news of two Airmen from the Air Mobility Command who were recently killed in traffic accidents. The 101 Critical Days of Summer begins Memorial Day weekend. For the past two years, Scott Air Force Basehas had zero fatalities during the campaign. Colonel Hunt expressed that he hopes to makes this the third year. "Look out for each other," said Col. Hunt. "Peer pressure can be a good thing, tell your buddy they're doing something wrong. They'll thank you later." Chief Master Sgt. James Suttles, 375th Airlift Wing command chief, was the next speaker. "The wingman concept is not just a slogan, make it work," said Chief Suttles. Lisa Hunt, Armed Forces Against Drunk Driving, briefed that there were 36 DUIs last year. The AFADD organization saved 85 people last year and have saved 39 lives so far this year. They operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week within a 25 mile radius; however, they are in need of volunteers. Lichte, Air Mobility Command commander, was also shown to emphasize traffic safety during the summer season. The most common accidents involve poor decisions, excessive speeding, drinking and driving and failure to wear seat belts. "Be your own safety manager," said General Lichte in conclusion, ehoing this year's 101 Critical Days of Summer campaign slogan. Maj. Dawn Lancaster, 375th Services Squadron commander, briefed Airmen on some of the upcoming events for summer. She highlighted some events such as the NCAA coach visit, the swimming pools that open Saturday, Cardinal Creek's Partake program, Family Bowling and Book night, MatchUp and Starbucks coming to Prontos Pizza in the middle of July. The last speaker was Maj. Leo Chong from the installation voting office. He stated the importance of voting and going online to sign up for absentee voting to make voting easier. In closing, Colonel Hunt reiterated that he wants his Airmen to take time off to spend with their families and enjoy themselves, but to do so safely.
