The Scott Air Force Base Education Center held their third annual education fair May 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Scott Club.
"We wanted to introduce servicemembers to military friendly schools to make the potential students aware of their options as well as how to use their tuition assistance wiser," said Roland Smith, 375th Mission Support Squadron DPE education and training manager.

About 425 Joint Total Force Scott members were able to speak to representatives from approximately 40 different schools. Other services such as Troops to Teachers/Spouses to Teachers, Illinois Montgomery G.I. Bill representatives and Illinois Veterans representatives were also in attendance.

Participants were eligible to enter a raffle as well. Each participant was given a card and depending on how many representatives a participant got to sign their card, they could win prizes donated by the schools. Free refreshments were also offered.

The education marked the beginning of "Operation Education," a campaign sponsored by Scott's Education Office to promote awareness of education benefits and support services available, said Mr. Smith.

"Operation Education" plans to offer classes for Operation CCAF, Operation Bachelors Degree and Operation Masters Degree. In these classes topics will include: selecting a college, Air Force Tuition Assistance, commissioning, scholarships, Air Force education leave of absence, Montgomery G.I. Bill and CLEP/DANTES testing.

"Our goal is to keep education on the forefront," said Mr. Smith. "Education adds to the whole person concept. While you're at Scott, start, continue or resume your education. You always want to think back at Scott as contributing to your success."
