A little less than two years ago, Col. Steve Oliver arrived for duty at United States Transportation Command on Scott Air Force Base as the Deputy Director of Strategy, Policy, Programs and Logistics. On June 2, Colonel Oliver crossed Scott Drive and made the transition as the 375th Airlift Wing vice commander.

"I'm thrilled to be a member of Joint Total Force Scott," said Colonel Oliver. "I am looking forward to meeting, getting to know and working with our Airmen, their families and our JTF Scott partners."

The upcoming summer months will bring lots of leadership changes to the 375th AW, but the transitions should be seamless and will not affect the support the wing provides to partner units, higher headquarters, Scott AFB families and the local retiree population.

"As we make these leadership transitions and continue to fill Air and Space Expeditionary Forces commitments, we will make sure the mission doesn't fail and the levels of support we continue to provide to JTF Scott and their families doesn't diminish," said Colonel Oliver. "We will work through these changes by leveraging technology, ingenuity and manpower."

Although the colonel will have many priorities as the vice commander, his number one priority will be the people of JTF Scott.

"It's not just about the members of the 375th AW," said Colonel Oliver. "It's about all our partners at JTF Scott. A lot is asked of our servicemembers and their families to take part in the Global War on Terrorism. I'm committed to supporting (Col. Al Hunt, 375th AW commander) and the people of JTF Scott in order to make sure our folks have everything they need to be successful in all they're asked to do and that their families are well cared for."

"Service and sacrifice in our Nation's defense is a high-calling, and I am continually amazed and encouraged by what our incredible people do to accomplish our critical missions," said the vice commander.

Colonel Oliver is a native of Albany, N.Y. and has been in the Air Force 19 years. He is married to Lt. Col. Gina Oliver of Air Mobility Command Manpower, Personnel and Services.
