Intelligence squadron credits deployments for success Published June 25, 2008 By Airman Amber Kelly-Woodward 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Scott Air Force Base represented the majority of awards presented in the Air Mobility Command's Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Awards for 2007, including their win for Outstanding Unit of the year. Scott's active duty awards include: -Field Grade Officer of the Year: Maj. Daniel Pankratz -Maj. Gen. John Patton Outstanding Active Duty Intelligence Officer of the Year: Capt. Michelle Stoffa-Malloy -Senior NCO of the Year: Senior Master Sgt. Anthony Gillis -NCO of the Year: Tech. Sgt. William Daggett -Airman of the Year: Airman 1st Class Kristen Nawtski Scott's Reserve awards include: -Field Grade Officer of the Year: Maj. Jeff Menard -Officer of the Year: Capt. Paula Reichert -Airman of the Year: Senior Airman Adam Lawson -Outstanding ISR Enlisted Contributor of the Year: Staff Sgt. Kisha Rogers -Outstanding ISR Civilian Contributor of the Year: Cynthia Mounts Captain Reichert, Sgt. Gillis and Airman Lawson, who are all in the Air Intelligence Squadron, went on to win Air Force level awards. Scott had the highest amount of winners from the same command. Deployment time and experience has been a significant factor the intelligence squadron's success, said Sgt. Gillis, AMC Air Intelligence Squadron superintendent. The intelligence career field is one of the most deployable jobs, only second to Security Forces. Deployments allow Intelligence Airmen to use their training to focus on threats, asses what the enemy has done, is doing and will do, and advise leadership and decision makers, even if it involves calling off the mission, he added. "I feel humbled, also ecstatic. It's a very prestigious award," said Sgt. Gillis. "I was just happy to get recognized for the hard work."
