Disa-Scott's Adopt a School program Published Aug. 20, 2008 By DISA-Scott Defense Information Systems Agency SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill -- Southwestern Illinois College is the third school to sign an Education Partnership Agreement with the Defense Information Systems Agency at Scott. SWIC, with a student population of around 16,000, is the largest school signed under the AAS program, and joins Belleville-East and Shiloh Middle School. The EPA documents the services that DISA-Scott is willing to offer to SWIC. The purpose of this partnership is to promote the core mission of DISA within the community and to strengthen, support and enhance programs for students enrolled in science, mathematics, engineering and Information Technology education. This EPA will be used to encourage students to pursue studies in the scientific disciplines in accordance with 10 USC 2194, "Education Partnerships." DISA-Scott will explore a variety of ways to provide support to include volunteers, mentors and computer assistants. DISA will assist SWIC in with career fairs, guest speakers, job shadowing and career mentors. More recently, DISA-Scott helped out with Shiloh's Middle School Science Fair and made a donation of books to their library. In addition, Corey Toennies, IT Specialist, Lorraine Jones, Contracting Officer, and Scott Sautman, Contract Specialist, briefed students concerning their roles and responsibilities in a government contracting activity.
