Scott Officers’ Spouses’ Club seeks members Published Aug. 21, 2008 By Heather Simmons Scott Officer's Spouses' Club second vice-president SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill -- The Scott Officers' Spouses' Club will hold their annual membership drive Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Scott Club. The theme is "Flip on into the new OSC year." New or returning OSC members should wear flip-flops. During the membership drive, patrons can check out OSC clubs, learn about base activities, visit with local merchants and socialize with friends. The OSC is a group of military spouses from all branches of the military, both active duty and retired. They hold monthly socials, usually on the second Wednesday of the month, that offer both socializing and entertainment. There are opportunities for everyone, including bowling, canasta, bridge, mah jong, bunko, quilting, sewing, reading and more. There is also an opportunity to start something new. The OSC, a social organization, also has a charitable association, the Scott Officers' Spouses' Charitable Association, which contributes to both the base and local communities. Fundraising activities throughout the year benefit Scholastic Awards Program, spouses' base programs such as "Pilot for a Day," Youth Center activities, the Airman's Attic and the base library. OSCA also gives to local food pantries, senior nutrition programs and many other organizations. Reservations are not required. For more information, call Karen Zawasky at 624-5598.
