USTRANSCOM announces rollout of new program for DoD moves Published Aug. 28, 2008 By U.S. Transportation Command Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill -- The U.S. Transportation Command and the Military Surface Distribution and Deployment Command have announced the initial rollout of the Defense Personal Property System. DPS is the automated management system for movement of household goods for members of the Armed Services and government civilians. The system automates much of the process of pre-move counseling, scheduling, tracking, invoicing and claims filing for household goods shipments. DPS operations will begin Sept. 10 at 18 transportation offices designated in conjunction with their service headquarters, and will be available to transportation offices world-wide Jan. 22, 2009. This system implements elements of the USTRANSCOM Families First initiative, and will replace the Transportation Operational Personal Property Standard System.
