Match Up wrap up Published Sept. 3, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Amber Kelly-Woodward 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The 2008 Air Mobility Command MatchUp games, which began May 31, ended Sunday. MatchUp is AMC's summertime program to introduce Airmen and their families to some of the benefits of base life. "Scott really tries to get people involved on base and MatchUp helped us do that as well as award prizes," said Lisa Timmerman 375th Services Squadron marketing director. MatchUp is loosely based on the game "Concentration." Game pieces were offered at every AMC Services facility. Participants entered game piece codes online or by using a toll free number. Players were also given the chance to play a game associated with the MatchUp program to earn instant cash prizes and bonus entries into grand prize drawings. A MatchUp Family Fun Picnic was held June 20 to allow base personnel the chance to earn pieces and sign-up for MatchUp if they already had not. MatchUp not only provided prizes to winners, but allowed bases to win money toward improving quality of life. Dover Air Force Base won the race with 138.98 percent of its members registered. Pope AFB had 125.91 percent, McGuire AFB has 120.96 percent, McConnell has 88.91 percent, Charleston AFB had 66.58 percent, MacDill AFB had 65.12 percent, Fairchild AFB had 59.71 percent, Scott AFB had 59.15 percent, Travis AFB had 57.74 percent, Grand Forks had 50.33 percent and McChord had 48.84 percent. "We finished with a total of 49,074 registered MatchUp participants which is just 358 participants short of last year's total that included Andrews AFB, who did not participate in 2008 as they are no longer an AMC installation," said Scott Black AMC headquarters marketing branch chief. The individual winners of MatchUp are still being determined.
