Combined Federal Campaign begins Published Oct. 1, 2008 By Airman 1st Class Amber Kelly-Woodward 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Combined Federal Campaign Kickoff will begin Friday at the Parade Field at 11 a.m. and lasts until Nov. 17. "The CFC theme this year is Making a World of Difference and that is exactly what we are trying to do," said Lt. Col. John McNulty, 375th Airlift Wing Plans and Readiness chief. "With every little bit we collect, we can make a huge difference." The CFC is an international program that provides health and human service benefits to charitable organizations. The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations. The campaign began in the early 1960's. Its goal is to allow Federal employees to help charitable organizations fundraise. A benefit of the campaign is that federal employees are only solicited once a year. Another benefit is donations are able to be made through payroll deductions. Scott personnel will have the opportunity to support more than 2,500 charities in the surrounding communities. Proceeds generated from the campaign will be used for causes which include helping feed hungry children, providing relief for families in need and furthering work to find cures for diseases. During the kickoff, attendees will be able to visit with local charities to help them decide who to donate to. In 2006, JTF Scott raised $853,000 with 8,800 employees. Last year JTF Scott raised about $846,000 with more than 9,590 employees. This year JTF Scott has 9,019 employees. JTF Scott includes U.S. Transportation Command, Air Mobility Command headquarters, Air Force Communications Agency, Defense Information Systems Agency, 375th AW, 932nd AW, 126th ARW, 345th Recruiting Squadron, Air Force Audit Agency-Midwest, Defense Commissary Agency, 3rd Manpower Requirements Squadron, Surface Deployment and Distribution Command and 561st Network Operation Systems Detachment 3. "There are no set goals, but if everybody gives what they can, Scott can make a huge difference," said Col. Gary Goldstone, 375th Airlift Wing commander. "Scott's support of the CFC will allow us to be Wingmen to the community." In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Hangar 1.
