HOUSING HAPPENINGS Published Oct. 9, 2008 By Housing Office SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Annual Resident Satisfaction survey has been distributed to all Landings at Scott homes. Residents should take a few minutes to complete this important survey. Results will be used in planning and evaluating programs and processes. Residents who return the comment card will be entered in a random drawing for a $500 gift card. An independent third party processes the surveys and draws the gift card. To be included, resident information must be provided on the comment card, but is never included in the survey. Families have begun to move in to new homes in Shiloh West - a fact more amazing since families were still living in Old Shiloh West in September 2007. Renovated homes in Shiloh East are progressing and will soon be occupied. Until work is complete in both Shiloh East and Shiloh West, access will be through the temporary gates onto Seibert Road. Permanent access via Ashcreek, is expected around the first of the year. The gate in Patriots Landing which was opened to accommodate construction and renovation traffic and crews, is scheduled to be closed Oct. 11. Traffic will access Patriots Landing by way of the Ward Street gate behind the commissary, as before work began. October 11 is also the date of The Landings at Scott's Fall Festival. Open to all housing residents, the event culminates the Base Fire Department's Fire Prevention Week activities and includes a pumpkin and mum giveaway, kid's activities, treats and a few surprises. Residents are welcome to stop by the Patriots Landing Community Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Smoke detector batteries should be checked. It may be exchanged for a fresh battery at the Self Help store. Fire officials recommend changing the battery when clocks are changed in the spring and fall. We recommend marking the date on the battery as well. Residents are required to keep smoke and carbon monoxide detectors operable. If a detector needs attention, initiate a work order by calling 746-4919 or online at scottfamilyhousing.com With Halloween around the corner, keep in mind that Trick or Treat hours in housing are 6-8 p.m. Drivers should be cautious while driving that night. Trick or Treaters are asked to bypass homes without exterior lights on, and are welcome to stop by the Community Center for a treat.
