The Combined Federal Campaign, began Oct. 3 and concluded Nov. 17.

The CFC is the only authorized solicitation of federal employees in their workplaces on behalf of approved charitable organizations.

The CFC is an international program that provides health and human service benefits to charitable organizations. The campaign began in the early 1960's. Its goal is to allow federal employees to help charitable organizations fundraise. A benefit of the campaign is that federal employees are only solicited once a year. Another benefit is donations are able to be made through payroll deduction. Scott personnel had the opportunity to support more than 2,500 charities in the surrounding communities. Proceeds generated from the campaign will be used for causes which include helping feed hungry children, providing relief for families in need and furthering work to find cures for diseases.

The theme for this year's CFC was "Making a World of Difference" which is what the campaign is intended to do.

"I was a little worried with the hard economic times, it was looking kind of bad and I thought that would reflect in the amount of giving, but I was very pleased, I think we may have even beat last year." said Lt. Col. Kelly McNulty, 375th Airlift Wing Plans and Readiness chief.

In 2007, Scott raised $846, 658 with 9,913 employees, this year Scott raised $825, 762 with 9,019 employees. Based on last year, Scott raised 113 percent. Scott also led the way in the St. Louis Division by raising 48 percent of their donations.

"The campaign representatives and key workers at each unit and subunit used videos and talked at commander's calls and staff meetings were able to show how important CFC was," said Colonel McNulty. "They made 100 percent contact and even did follow-ups with their units."

One hundred percent contact was made with the entire base population. For the 375th AW, the 375th AW staff donated $14,151, the 375th Communications Group donated $6,892, the 375th Operations Group donated $17,719, the 375th Medical Group donated $36,871 and the 375th Mission Support Group donated $37,726.
