On Jan. 29 Hangar One will be the venue for the hottest show in the Air Force.

Tops in Blue, the premiere entertainment showcase of the U.S. Air Force will bring its highly acclaimed 2008 edition entitled "Deja Blue" to Scott as one of the last stops on its current tour.

This year marks the 55th anniversary of the Air Force's "Expeditionary Entertainers" by presenting a fun-filled, action-packed performance showcasing musical hits with their own special spin.

Bigger and better than ever, the Tops in Blue team is entertaining worldwide audiences with music and fun for the entire family.

"Since they are celebrating their anniversary, the show will be a reflection of all their previous performances," said Tom Rector, 375th Services Squadron community support flight chief. "It's a good show for all ages and we hope everybody can make it."

The Tops in Blue show will begin at 7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 6:45. The show is free and open to any Team Scott member to attend.

"We're planning for about 1,600 people to attend the show," Mr. Rector said. "In previous years that is what we have averaged.

This year's show features Latin sounds, country music, and hits from the top of the charts. Attendees can also expect to hear music from their favorite movies and Broadway shows as well."

The dazzling lights, costumes and precision choreography for which Tops in Blue is known worldwide, and it equals a show that has something for everyone.

With a great stage show, comes a great stage, which Mr. Rector explained is transported in one of two tractor-trailer trucks that will arrive at Scott the morning of the show and begin the lengthy set-up.

"They'll be at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas the night before," he said. "They should get here about seven or eight in the morning. They'll be setting up all day. In the early afternoon the performers will do their sound checks and then they can all catch their breath for a few hours before showtime that night."

After the show, the entire process takes place again only this time in reverse.
"The show is about 90 minutes," Mr. Rector said. "The entertainers will meet with the crowd for about 30 minutes, then at about 10:30, the stage crew will start tearing everything down. Last time they were here, they worked until five in the morning."

After the performance at Scott, Tops in Blue will perform at Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri the 30th and then at Whiteman Air Force Base near Kansas City on the 31st.

Scott is just one stop of nearly 100 shows for Tops in Blue in their performance season that runs from May to March each year.
