The ceremonial ribbon, which was cut by AFGLSC commander, Maj. Gen. Gary McCoy, 635th Supply Chain Management Wing commander, Col. Roger Thrasher, 635th SCM Group commander, Col. Joan Cornuet, and the 375th Airlift Wing commander, Col. Gary Goldstone, marked the opening of the first of two buildings that are being built for the center. Bldg. 1515 is located across from the Scott Clinic on Ward Drive and features a variety of innovations that will help improve processes, according to General McCoy. "The new facility features an open floor plan and a command and control center to help us support the warfighter 24/7," said the general. According to Colonel Cornuet, funding for the new building was provided by the Base Closure and Realignment Commission, Pacific Air Forces, United States Air Forces Europe, U.S. Air Force Central Command and other major commands around the Air Force. The center operates as the hub for supply chain management, networking logistics experts from around the Air Force to connect wholesale and retail logistics; as well as seamlessly integrating and overseeing all logistic processes, technology and resources. Their goal is to deliver end-to-end warfighter support more rapidly and at a reduced cost. "When our nation calls, we are ready to support the greatest Air Force in the world, and we work around the clock to deliver capabilities to the warfighter, on cost and on time every day," said General McCoy. AFGLSC, a component of Air Force Material Command, will employee an estimated 4,500 people on its total force team. AFGLSC is comprised of two wings, a direct reporting group and various sub-units. In addition to Scott, the operating locations include; Tinker AFB, Okla., Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, Hill AFB, Utah, Robins AFB, Ga., Langley AFB, Va. and Gunter AFS, Ala.
