People on the move: Tech. Sgt. Wyman Published April 1, 2009 By Bob Fehringer U.S. Transportation Command Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Tech. Sgt. Kelly Wyman says he joined the Air Force in 1990 mainly to serve his country, get an education and get out of Illinois to see different things. Two out of three ain't bad. While he has been stationed in Arizona, Florida, Ohio, Hawaii and South Korea, he returned to his home state in 2005 where he works in the United States Transportation Command Strategy, Policy, Programs and Logistics Directorate as the NCOIC of Executive Services. "I oversee daily administrative functions and programs for the J5/4 directorate," Sergeant Wyman said. "I also act as a liaison with senior leaders within the directorate and provide Knowledge Operations Management guidance within a joint environment. "I really enjoy the joint aspect of USTRANSCOM," Sergeant Wyman continued. "It is a little different than working on Air Force only installations, but it is very rewarding and career broadening. This is my second joint tour. My first was at USPACOM (United States Pacific Command) from 2001 to 2004." Sergeant Wyman spends much of his off-duty time drilling with the USTRANSCOM Honor Guard, which he joined recently. "I participate with the honor guard because it gives me a sense of pride to hold those colors, weapons etc., while representing the Air Force and USTRANSCOM," Sergeant Wyman said. "I joined the honor guard a few months ago, so I haven't been out on any details yet. I am looking forward to helping my team represent the armed services and USTRANSCOM very soon." With more than 18 years in the Air Force, Sergeant Wyman, 36, is undecided about retirement. "I'm still unsure," he said. "If I do retire, I would like to obtain a position here on Scott, in the security field or computer field." Should he decide not to retire, the Salem, Ill., native says he'd also like stay in the area. "I'd still like to stay at Scott until I do retire," he said. "I grew up close to this area and it's nice to have family close by." Sergeant Wyman, who now lives in Breese, Ill., is divorced and the father of twin sons, Austin and Tyler, 13, and daughter Faith, 6.
