AMC IT Training Center relocates into new building Published April 15, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Amber Kelly-Woodward 375th Airlift Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Air Mobility Command headquarters Information Technology Training Center, which used to be located behind Bldg. 1600, has moved to Bldg. 1650. The center officially opened Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. "This building has bigger classrooms, it's a hardened and secure facility, it has its own parking lot and is in a more convenient location," said Master Sgt. Johnny Forrest, AMC IT Training Center superintendent. Work began on getting a new facility about 10 months ago. The building, which was formerly the Army and Air Force Exchange Services administration building, underwent $500,000 in renovations and $100,000 in equipment upgrades. "The interior of the building was completely gutted," said Sergeant Forrest. "After the walls were painted and the carpet installed, we moved all the furniture and set up everything." The IT center staff is composed of Staff Sgt. Angela Dieterle, Senior Airman Douglas Teustch and Norgremar Duran. The center is responsible for teaching the Enterprise Information Management course, Microsoft Office 2007, Air Force Portal, the task management tool and the client support administration applications course to all active duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian employees free of charge. "We are different from other schools because we are free and we tailor the classes to the students instead of following a strict curriculum," said Sergeant Forrest. The center also taught the entire command EIM. Class schedules are released quarterly and filled on a first come, first served basis.
