Today's Air Force requires Airmen of a high caliber. Airmen are required to be competent, capable and ready within a moments notice. On the flip side, today's criminals are extremely motivated, have much more access and are extremely elusive. It is for this reason that the Air Force, and more specifically the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, would like to extend the opportunity for Airmen to make a difference and impact the world and environment around them.

The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is the premier Federal Law Enforcement agency for the Department of Defense and more specifically, the Air Force. AFOSI is tasked to identify, exploit and neutralize criminal, terrorist and intelligence threats to the Air Force, DoD and U.S. Government. A career within AFOSI entails all facets of federal law enforcement duty to include counterintelligence, base and Air Force-level fraud and general criminal missions.

AFOSI is a federally credentialed and trained career field, therefore specialized skills and training are received by all AFOSI special agents. Agent trainees attend a four-month basic investigators course located in Glynco, Ga., at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Agents are trained on federal law, apprehension and defensive techniques, live fire drills and exercises and special investigative techniques to name a few. Agents may continue to receive top quality training throughout their AFOSI career dependent upon needs and career paths.

AFOSI Detachment 301 at Scott would like to extend an invitation to all active duty enlisted and officer corps, as well as civilian personnel, to attend a base brief and recruitment seminar Monday at 9 a.m. inside Rockwell Hall, Bldg. 1930. Det. 301 is looking for highly motivated individuals whom are prepared for a world of opportunities as special agents with AFOSI. The Air Force is currently streamlining AFOSI's applicant focus to staff sergeants with five to eight years of service and senior airmen with line numbers for staff sergeant. AFOSI is taking applications for support positions as well.

Air Force officers within the 2006-2007 year group may apply for AFOSI duty via the AFOSI cross-flow board. Packages for the July 2009 cross-flow board must be submitted to HQ AFPC/DPASBO no later than June 29. Civilian personnel wishing to apply must access USAJobs.gov and formally submit an application for duty. Although AFOSI is streamlining its requirements currently, all interested individuals are highly encouraged to attend the base brief and be a part of a thorough question and answer session.
