Educating the Force

The Scott Education Center will sponsor "Educating the Force," one of the largest education fairs in the metro-east May 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Scott Club.

This year's Scott Education Fair follows on the heels of the May 1 Post 9/11 GI Bill application enrollment activation by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Officially, the Chapter 33 GI Bill is widely recognized as the most significantly financial veterans education benefit since WW II. This GI Bill is projected to provide unprecedented access to education financial assistance for hundreds of thousands of active duty, Guard, Reserve and veterans. Unlike its predecessor the Chapter 30 GI Bill, commissioned officers who served since 9/11 will also have the opportunity apply for the education benefit.

Scott's fourth annual education fair is designed to build on the unprecedented momentum already generated by the scheduled implementation of the new GI Bill Aug. 1.

"Educating the Force" will provide Scott military personnel a unique platform on which to gather information on a variety of degree and certificate programs being offered by the more than 40 academic institutions and education service support organizations who have partnered with the Scott Education Center.

Team Scott personnel and their families are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to meet with local, regional and global colleges and universities representatives.
There will be attendance prizes, light refreshments and plenty of information that may assist in obtaining educational and career goals. New information regarding the new proposed Department of Defense Transfer Education Benefits Web site is expected to be available.

The most up to date list of "Educating the Force" participants can be found by accessing the Scott Education Center online via the Air Force Virtual Education Center.
