Kennedy signed Public Law 87-726 Oct. 1, 1962 recognizing every May 15th as National Police Officer's Memorial Day. Additionally, every week containing May 15 is designated "National Police Week," reserved for recognizing the dedication, fortitude, accomplishments and responsibilities of our nation's law enforcement professionals. Members from the 375th Security Forces Squadron are celebrating police week with local police officers. Thirty 375th SFS personnel attended the Annual Sheriff's Memorial Service Tuesday at the St. Clair County Jail in downtown Belleville. The Annual Sheriff's Memorial Service is a nondenominational service paying final respects to all law enforcement officials who, through the course of their profession, made the ultimate sacrifice in giving their lives while upholding justice. Friday, the flag will be flown at half-staff at Scott to honor Police Officer's Memorial Day. Saturday, the 375th SFS will host their annual Community Oriented Policing display in the Base Exchange parking lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local civilian police agencies will be in attendance to show the Scott community the tools they use in their day-to-day operations.
