The Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps summer leadership school is scheduled for June 14-20 at Scott.

Activities for the week will center on developing teamwork and individual leadership skills.

The week will begin Sunday with a welcome at the Base Theater followed by bowling and pizza. The camp begins at full speed early Monday morning with physical training.
The rest of the day will be spent at the YMCA Family Camp in Belleville doing team-building exercises. Other activities during the week include Military Careers Day, Security Forces Day, honor guard training, a visit to the 126th Air Refueling Wing, Field Day and the cadets will attend a Gateway Grizzlies Game and take in a movie.

During the evening, the cadets will be involved in various sports including volleyball, softball and ultimate frisbee.

Drill and ceremony will also be emphasized throughout the week with reveille and retreat ceremonies each day. If there is any free time during the day, cadets will be expected to practice a flight drill sequence which culminates in a flight drill competition at the end of the week.

This year there will be 140 cadets from high schools in Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Mississippi and Kentucky. Each of these cadets were selected to attend this camp because they are expected to take leadership roles in their units next fall. While this camp is not intended to be a basic training, it is intended to allow these students an opportunity to experience a small part of life on an active Air Force base. They will be staying in billeting and eating most of their meals in the dining facility.

The week will end with a graduation parade at 9:30 a.m. June 20 on the Parade Field. The base is invited to attend this parade as the cadets wrap up their week on Scott.
