Change will be seen throughout group and squadron leadership this summer at Scott.
The change started already as Col. Jill Sterling took command of the 375th Medical Group from former commander Col. Diane Ritter June 1. The 375th MDG change of command was the first of 11 group and squadron command changes that will take place throughout the summer.

Colonel Sterling comes to Scott from the 96th Medical Operations Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

Family Life

Hailing from "all over" as a self-described "Army brat," Colonel Sterling still considers the Colorado, Wyoming area her home. "My husband of 16 years is from Michigan and we have a son, Geno, who is 11 years old," said Colonel Sterling. "My family and I are very happy and excited to be at Scott, it's a beautiful base, and we're looking forward to exploring it."

Before Scott

Graduating the Air Force Academy in 1982 Colonel Sterling knew that she wanted to help the military community and found her way to do that.

"I was not sure I wanted to be a physician, but once having made the decision, I knew that I wanted to take care of the military family--that's how I grew up," she said.

Before taking command of the 375th MDG Colonel Sterling gained experience in a broad range of roles that have taken her around the world.

"I have been a physician, critical and primary care, I also have experience from several training platforms, as a faculty member and a program director," said Colonel Sterling. "I also have deployed experience and disaster experience. I oversaw Wilford Hall's Critical Care Air Transport during Hurricane Katrina. I am also proud to say that my previous squadron just helped the 96th MDG earn an 'Outstanding' on its health services inspection a couple of weeks ago.

Future of the 375th MDG

"At this time we are pressing forward with the clinic renovation project that needs to be completed," said Colonel Sterling. "In addition to that major project we are focusing on the ORI (Operational Readiness Inspection) and AAA-HC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) as well as continuing to provide excellent patient care, and partnership with the local community for the health and well being of Team Scott."

Colonel Sterling's Words to Airmen

"Seek to provide excellence in service, to every patient, everyday," said the Colonel. "With that in mind, all the other pieces and parts will fall in place."
