Key Spouse is imperative Published June 17, 2009 By Katey Aldinger 375th Logistics Readiness Squadron Key Spouse SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Being a Key Spouse has been one of the best opportunities I have ever experienced. It has given me the chance to meet many new people and help people as well. Each new spouse or deployed spouse that comes into our squadron is met by us during our get-togethers. We have tried to make every spouse feel welcomed even if they don't know anyone else. The Key Spouse Program also has made me feel welcomed. I have become very close with other Key Spouses and know that if anything was going wrong for me any one of the spouses would be there for me and vice versa. Having Key Spouses are very important because they help keep the spouses calm when situations arise. Key Spouses have helped me tremendously in the past when my husband was deployed by offering gatherings full of useful information and other fun activities. Many times my Key Spouse and I would talk on the phone, exchange emails and even have dinner while my husband was in Afghanistan. She helped me deal with the stress of deployments and also kept me up to date about all of the events that the Airman and Family Readiness Center offered along with other squadron functions. The Key Spouse program is imperative for every squadron because it helps keep all of the families up to date on all of the important information and helps to ease some of the stress as well.
