People on the move: Timothy Peplaw Published June 17, 2009 By Bob Fehringer USTRANSCOM Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The U.S. Transportation Command has its first official competition barbeque judge in Timothy Peplaw. In addition to being certified by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, he occupies a new position in USTRANSCOM as the deputy foreign policy advisor, or deputy POLAD to the commander of USTRANSCOM. Mr. Peplaw comes to USTRANSCOM from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency on an 18-month joint duty assignment. The Joint Duty Assignment Program is a Director of National Intelligence sponsored program and is a requirement for Senior Executive Service in the intelligence community. "At NGA, I served as the division chief for Geospatial Production Management in the Source Management and Operations Directorate," Mr. Peplaw said. "I was also the directorate's crisis operations manager." "As a result of the events of 9/11," Mr. Peplaw continued, "I assisted in standing up the Agency's Homeland Security mission. I developed and led the Border Security and Transportation Security missions." Mr. Peplaw has nearly 25 years of civilian government service with NGA, the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, and the Defense Mapping Agency. Mr. Peplaw Graduated from Missouri State University with a B.S. in Cartography and Map Technology. A native of the St. Louis area, Mr. Peplaw attended Parkway West High School. He resides in St. Charles County with his wife, Jane, also an NGA employee, and their two sons, Brendan, 16, and Derek, 14.
