People on the Move: Tech. Sgt. Amy Winn Published June 24, 2009 By Bob Fehringer U.S. Transportation Command Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Tech. Sgt. Amy Winn was born to wear Air Force blue. Her grandfather flew C-47s during World War II. Her dad was a Russian linguist and her uncle was a C-141 loadmaster during the Vietnam War. "I joined because I wanted to see the world and follow in my family's footsteps," said Sergeant Winn, a knowledge management operator at the U.S. Transportation Command. "We are responsible for the management of all forms of records and data as well as managing Information Technology systems. In her 11 year career, Sergeant Winn, an Issaquah, Wash. native, has indeed seen a good part of the world, having been stationed at or deployed to McChord Air Force Base, Wash., Minot Air Force Base, N.D., Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Guam. "In my current job, executive assistant to the senior enlisted leader (Chief Master Sgt. Kenneth McQuiston), I manage his travel schedule and projects affecting the enlisted corps across all services assigned to USTRANSCOM," Sergeant Winn continued. "Coordinating travel for the senior enlisted leader requires a lot of networking and flexibility." About working with the combined services, Sergeant Winn said, "I enjoy working in the joint assignment because I get to learn about other services' cultures and experiences. Having this experience has been great and I enjoy the opportunity to see how USTRANSCOM affects the Department of Defense. I have made great friends, learned a lot and had great experiences while here at Scott." Off duty, Sergeant Winn says she likes to read in her Swansea home, play volleyball on the USTRANSCOM team, watch football, go to concerts and spend time with friends.
