AFGLSC and Boeing celebrate partnership Published July 30, 2009 By Ken Norgard and Burt Foutz Air Force Global Logistics Support Center SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Boeing Company and the Air Force Global Logistics Support Center enjoy a "great partnership" with the C-17. On July 20, Jim O'Neill, Vice President/General Manager of Integrated Logistics Global Services and Support Integrated Defense Plans for Boeing, joined members of the AFGLSC to dedicate a 1/50 scale model of the C-17, which will be displayed in the AFGLSC headquarters building. This event served to commemorate the strong partnership between Boeing and the AFGLSC. Maj. Gen. Gary T. McCoy opened the dedication ceremony by recognizing the great teamwork between the AFGLSC, Boeing and the 635th Supply Chain Management Group. He emphasized the importance of "working together and individually to achieve maximum readiness of a great national asset like the C-17." The general also commented on how impressed he was with the C-17 during his last visit to the area of responsibility. He also talked about the C-17's reliability, versatility and impact on delivering critical logistics to the warfighter operating at the very tip of the spear. General McCoy thanked Boeing for the C-17 model, but more importantly, for their continuation in support of sustaining the greatest and most respected Air Force in the world. After General McCoy spoke, Mr. O'Neill said he was extremely proud of the C-17 and its impact on global operations. He said he looks forward to continuing and strengthening an already outstanding partnership with the AFGLSC and assist in providing world-class logistics support. Mr. O'Neill said the presentation of the model was "emblematic of the partnership Boeing shares with the United States Air Force and the AFGLSC." Also attending the ceremony from Boeing were Pam Carter, Director, Business Development, Integrated Logistics Support Systems, and Jim Lemons, Manager, Scott Field Office, Integrated Defense Systems.
