More than 20 employers will be represented at Oct. 28 career fair Published Oct. 15, 2009 By Airman 1st Class Amber Kelly-Herard 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Airman and Family Readiness Center will host the Scott AFB Defense Technology and Intelligence Career Fair Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Scott Club. More than 20 employers will be at the fair recruiting people with any federal security clearance, information technology, technical, engineering, aerospace, communications, military, government, contractor or intelligence background. An active security clearance is not required, but it is preferred. "Attending the career fair is a great way to bolster your job seeking, networking and higher education efforts," said Jason Semerakis, Transition Careers founder and CEO. "Most prospective job seekers stick with the traditional methods of finding a job by answering ad postings in the newspaper or on an online job board. By attending this career fair, you are putting yourself directly in front of the organizations that need your skills, giving yourself a leg up on the competition." The fair provides an opportunity for prospective employees to have face-to-face contact with local and national companies. Even if separation or retirement is five years away, the job fair could be a tool to see what opportunities are available to have an idea for the future.
