SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Members from the Dining Out cut the cake with Allen Chapin, a World War II veteran and former prisoner of war. Mr. Chapin was a 535th Bomb Squadron Sergeant with the Army Air Corps 381st Bomb Group. He was captured and taken prisoner for 21 months before he was finally able to come home. The members toasted “To the Mess” and then quickly drank the contents without moving the cup from their lips.
