The annual Toys for Tots campaign is underway until Dec. 19 at Scott. Founded and run by the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve since 1947, the mission of the Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

Members of the Scott AFB Semper Fi Society have placed collection boxes in the following locations: Building 1900 Rear Lobby (U.S. Transportation Command), Building 1961 Rear Lobby (USTRANSCOM Annex), Building 1700 Side Lobby (AFCA), Building 1600 Side Lobby (AMC), Building 3189 Front Lobby (DISA), and Building 1981 Front Lobby (Base Exchange).

Scott personnel have generously donated at least 1,500 toys annually that have benefitted children stretching from St. Louis to Mascoutah. The coordinator for Scott AFB is Lt. Col. Charley Knowles at 229-3330.
