Scott couple showcasing historic home Published Dec. 3, 2009 By Steve Berry 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Cols. Denny Jobes, 18th Air Force, and Lynn Jobes, 932nd Airlift Wing, are opening their home Dec. 5 for the Lebanon Holiday House Tour. Historic homes will be open for public view in Lebanon, Ill., from noon until 5 p.m. the day of the tour. Tickets cost $10 in advance, $12 on Saturday, and the proceeds benefit Lebanon's middle school and high school bands through the Lebanon Band Boosters. Organizer Lori Cummins said the house tour is back after being cancelled three years ago due to an ice storm. The event features seven homes. Ms. Cummins said the homes are spread throughout Lebanon, so the tour is not a walking tour. She said, "the Jobes really have a nice house. They are kind of our feature house." Their two and a half story brick home was built in 1880 by a local doctor. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. Previous occupants include Lebanon's mayor during the late 19th century and, more recently, Brig. Gen. David Cornell, who was assigned to Scott in 1980. The Jobes purchased the home five years ago, and stay busy maintaining it. "We bought it back in 2004 and have been working on it non-stop," Col. Denny Jobes said. She is in the Air Force Reserve, but on active duty orders. She works for AMC and the 18th Air Force in Bldg. P-4, where she is the Individual Mobilization Augmentee program manager for AMC. Her husband, Col. Lynn Jobes, works at AMC Logistics and as the 932nd Mission Support Group Commander. Tickets for the home tour can be purchased at the Lebanon Visitor's Center, 537-8420, or at any house the day of the tour.
