Special Agent Bradley Maxwell received the fourth highest combat award for the U.S. Armed Forces while stationed at Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq. Charged with safe guarding the lives of 950 Airmen, 5,000 Soldiers, contractors, and host national personnel, and protecting 39 aircraft, Agent Maxwell led 14 agents and 29 tactical security element operators on 143 combat missions throughout the At-Tamim Province, Iraq, conducting counterintelligence collections and counter threat operations. During his deployment, Agent Maxwell oversaw the production of 275 intelligence reports that helped identify 584 insurgents and provided Iraqi Police a continuous flow of targets to neutralize. In addition, Agent Maxwell's quick response in obtaining warrants and prosecution proceedings through the Iraqi Ministry of the Interior, following a sniper attack that killed a Soldier, allowed the rapid capture of the terrorist cell responsible for the attack. Agent Maxwell also developed investigative leads directly responsible for recovery of six assembled suicide vests, discovery of a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device factory, and interdiction of a fully operational VBIED intended to target Coalition Forces. Agent Maxwell's actions helped cripple numerous insurgent groups, decreased attacks on and off base, and saved numerous U.S. and Iraqi lives.
