The Air Force Global Logistics Support Center at Scott Air Force Base hosted the new Air Force Materiel Command Vice Commander, Lt. Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger; the Executive Director, Dr. Steve Butler; the new Command Chief, Chief Master Sgt. Eric Jaren; and the Director of Engineering and Technical Management, Mr. Russell Howard.

The primary focus of the visit March 31 was to familiarize AFMC leadership on the AFGLSC mission and to see firsthand how "world class" supply chain management is provided for Air Force customers.

Maj. Gen. Gary McCoy, AFGLSC commander, discussed the mission, roles and responsibilities of the AFGLSC, while members of his staff briefed more specific topics such as support to depot maintenance, inventory control and recovery, and supply chain performance. The briefing was presented in a virtual forum, with all six of the center's geographically separated units participating in the meeting. This enabled the AFMC leadership to exchange questions and ideas with all AFGLSC leaders.

General McCoy led everyone on a "visit the staff" walking tour. AFGLSC staff directorate personnel were given the opportunity to meet General Wolfenbarger and AFMC leadership, while also providing a short storyboard to address specific concerns and accomplishments.

General Wolfenbarger, Dr. Butler, and Mr. Howard attended a demonstration on the Supply Chain Control Center, where they learned how the supplier-to-warfighter supportability integration works and how the supply chain uses "sense and respond" to better support the warfighter. After the SCCC demonstration, all visitors toured the new 635th Supply Chain Management Group to see how the AFGLSC supports different AF mobility weapon systems.

Chief Jaren also conducted an enlisted call with members of the 635th Supply Chain Management Wing and 635th SCMG during the visit. Chief Jaren's focus was on getting back-to-basics for the enlisted troops. He also talked about force management and the impacts of the new fitness program. Chief Jaren and Chief Master Sgt. Cynthia Solomito, the AFGLSC Superintendent, also had the opportunity to sit down with SNCOs of the wing and group to discuss issues and concerns.

General Wolfenbarger said she was very pleased with her visit and the opportunity to meet the Supply Chain professionals in the AFGLSC.

She said she looks forward to hearing updates from the center on its progress as it continues to move forward to become the Air Force's single focal point for supply chain support and being recognized and respected as a world-class supply chain management organization.
