From 10,000 feet in the air to 120 feet below the water's surface and everywhere in between, Outdoor Recreation offers something for everyone in the Air Force family.
From skydiving to scuba diving, rock climbing to canoeing, and caving to snow skiing--these are all options Team Scott members and their families have when planning their next adventure--not to mention Grand Canyon and Cancun adventure trips.

"These are just a few," said Doug Hartung, 375th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation director. "New trips are always being planned."

And if that's not enough, ODR also has the design a trip feature and can help plan trips for any group size. For those who prefer doing the leg work themselves, ODR's resource library is available for use.

"ODR has a resource library filled with books for camp sites in the U.S., maps, hiking trails, boat safety, fishing and much more," said Mr. Hartung. "ODR also has many pamphlets on the different state parks in both Illinois and Missouri."

"Our programs are designed mostly for the family, but some of the more extreme programs such as skydiving will have age restrictions," said Mr. Hartung. "We have rental items for the family to enjoy from camping equipment to the outdoor movie system, bouncy houses and giant games. We have sports equipment, bikes and much more."

ODR hosts open houses throughout the year along with a fall festival to highlight new and ongoing programs. During the summer, there are also themed pool parties and movies in the park.

Many of the programs offered can't be found on the civilian market in the format offered on base, and those that are may be priced differently.

"All our programs include transportation and guides and most include all of the equipment and meals you need for the trip," said Mr. Hartung. "As far as rentals of the equipment go, we've found that on most, we are cheaper than places down town. We also offer a referral program and will help find items that we don't rent at a local market."
ODR is an all-encompassing program, offering something for everyone--no matter the skill level or age of the customer--from a lazy weekend to a thrill of a lifetime.

"ODR is an organization that offers equipment and programs for the entire Air Force family," said Mr. Hartung. "We create the opportunity to see new things and try something new."
