The annual "101 Critical Days of Summer" campaign at Scott began May 25 and will run through Labor Day, Sept. 6.

The 375th Air Mobility Wing Safety Office, in conjunction with the 101 CDS planning committee, has planned various safety focused events for Team Scott throughout the summer.

"This campaign helps ensure the appropriate resources and focus are provided so we mitigate unnecessary risk to life, limb and materiel across the spectrum of our mission," said Col. Gary Goldstone, 375th Air Mobility Wing commander.

The goal for Team Scott's 101 CDS campaign is to have zero reportable mishaps by enacting a proactive safety culture, fostered by commanders, supervisors and individuals, and to create and maintain safety vigilance on and off-duty.

This year's 101 CDS campaign will be broken down into four sections. The four 101 CDS focus areas are scheduled as follows:

May 25 to June 24: Transportation Safety
June 25 to July 11: Outdoor Safety
July 12 to Aug. 10: Water Safety
Aug. 16 to Sept. 5: Home and Workplace Safety

During each focus area period several activities will be available throughout the base to remind Team Scott of the importance of being safe.

Safety-focused commander's calls, seatbelt and motorcycle gear checks, and click it or ticket checks, will be ongoing throughout the 101 CDS campaign.

"We need to embrace these broad initiatives to achieve safety awareness and ensure effective risk management principles are embedded in all that we do, both on and off duty," said Colonel Goldstone. "Commanders, supervisors and individuals need to be aware of hazards, and practice good risk management every day. Each member of the wing must put this plan and training into place and be a good wingman. Remember, safety is not an accident."

101 CDS is an Air Force-wide campaign designed to raise awareness in an effort of prevent accidents during the summer, which is when they occur the most.
