Within the last month, the 375th Air Mobility Wing's Ground Safety Office and 375th Security Forces Squadron issued 28 seat belt violations during two "Click it or Ticket" checks. On May 27, 18 people were found without their seatbelts during a two hour period, and on June 11, 10 violations were found.

The "Click it or Ticket" campaign was created to motivate people into wearing their seatbelt.

Tech. Sgt. Donald Rogers, 375th AMW Ground Safety craftsman, participated in the checks.

"We are out there as deterrents," Sergeant Rogers said. "We want to make sure people are using their seat belts."

While violators receive tickets for a first time offense, Sergeant Rogers would rather everyone wear their seatbelt from the start.

"Our goal is not punishment, its compliance," he said. "We would rather people wear their seatbelts because it saves lives."

If military or civilian personnel are found not wearing their seatbelt they will be sent immediately to security forces to receive a ticket. For each seatbelt violation, three points will be added the driver's record. If the driver receives 12 points in 12 months they will lose their on-base driving privileges for a year. If they receive 18 points in 24 months, they will lose their driving privileges for two years.

Sergeant Rogers believes there is no excuse for not wearing a seatbelt.
"Your seatbelt should be automatic, it's easy," he said.

According to Sergeant Rogers, The Ground Safety Office and Security Forces don't mess around when it comes to personnel not wearing their seatbelts.

"Wear your seat belt because we'll be looking." Sergeant Rogers said.
