375th Communications Squadron flight named Facility of the Year Published Aug. 25, 2010 By 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The 375th Communications Squadron Multi-Function Switch flight was recently named the Outstanding Defense Information System Network Facility of the Year. The award was presented by the Defense Information Systems Agency - Continental United States Field Command at their Node Site Coordinators Conference Aug. 18 in Fairview Heights, Ill. Operating out of Scott AFB, the 375th CS MFS serves over 16,000 telephones, modems, secure terminal equipment and facsimile machines throughout the midwest. The following are some of the accomplishments that lead to the award: - Zero major network outages were experienced on Scott's DSN MFS which successfully processed over 130 million DSN calls in 2009. -Successfully completed a transparent 30,000 line cutover from AT&T to Nuvox Communications. -Completed over 2,400 telecommunication work orders and projects actions from simple line changes to complete infrastructure overhaul. -Currently undergoing ground breaking technology through the implementation of the AS5300 Application Server. The AS5300 is a secured internet protocol manager designed to increase productivity and collaboration by allowing users to collaborate using the appropriate tool (instant messaging, chat, voice, video, file transfer, web collaboration, etc) all in an integrated solution.
