ESC donates dresses to women of Scott Published Sept. 22, 2010 By Bekah Clark 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Enlisted Spouses Club at Scott Air Force Base gave away donated semi-form and formal dresses during their Sept. 14 meeting. Nearly 100 dresses in all sizes and colors were donated by individuals from the Scott Community to be given away to women of Scott. "Some of the dresses still have tags on them from David's Bridal or other retail locations," said Helen Ledgewood, Scott ESC vice president. While this particular give away was focused on setting women up with dresses for the Air Force Ball, held last Saturday, the group still has plenty to give away for upcoming holiday parties and plans to do just that during their Oct. 12 meeting. "We still have about 60 dresses left. We would love for those who are in need of a holiday dress to come to our next meeting and grab one. We have a beautiful variety and this is a great savings for anyone," said Ms. Ledgewood. The dresses are new or lightly used, and are free to those looking for a dress. Sizes currently range from size 2 to 22, and styles range from short to ball gown. Any woman, whether a military member or family member, at Scott Air Force Base is eligible to receive a gown. There is no rank requirement. ESC meetings are held at the Patriots Landing Community Center with a social starting at 6:10 p.m. and the meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. Light food and refreshments are provided, and kids are welcome. The group's meetings are open to all enlisted spouses from the Scott community including tenant units and all commands.
