Team Scott can help charities through CFC donation Published Oct. 6, 2010 By Senior Airman Amber R. Kelly-Herard 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Friday marked the beginning of this year's Combined Federal Campaign, themed "Giving Today for a Brighter Tomorrow." The CFC will run through Nov. 15. "The CFC is one opportunity for federal employees to be solicited for donations to charities and select which charities to donate to," said Capt. Jennifer Baker, Vanguard vice-chair. The Vanguard Division area includes parts of Missouri and Illinois and has more than 2,300 charities to choose from. Each charity goes through an evaluation process to make sure it is a reputable organization before federal employees are able to donate to them. "Last year, the Vanguard Division collected more than $893,000 from all of Scott, so I hope we can exceed that this year," said Captain Baker. One way to donate is to make a one-time cash or check donation. Another way is through payroll deduction. Military members can donate a minimum of $2 a month and civilians can donate a minimum of $1 per pay period. For more information, contact your key worker or Captain Baker at 256-7634.
