DBIDS registration deadline extended Published Oct. 28, 2010 By Bekah Clark 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- As registration and implementation of the Defense Biometrics Identification System continues, the 375th Security Forces Squadron is hard at work ensuring that all Team Scott personnel and their eligible family members are enrolled in the system. To meet the increased demand for registration, customer service hours and the deadline have been extended as of Oct. 15. Walk-in registrations are now welcome from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Base Defense Operations Center (Bldg. 755) Rm. 135 and the Visitor Control Center. Registrations are also available Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the VCC only. Registrants are encouraged to take advantage of these extended hours and register before 7:30 a.m. or after 4:30 p.m. when possible as waits may be significantly shorter. Additionally, "soft" implementation of DBIDS will now begin Nov. 1. This phase of implementation means that unregistered personnel will still be granted access to the base for a limited number of entries. The date for "hard" implementation of the system has not been determined yet, but at some point 100 percent enforcement will occur which will require that any person seeking base access will be required to either obtain a temporary visitor's pass or be registered in DBIDS. Customers on the Air Mobility Command network are able to make appointments for DBIDS registration from .mil computers. An online appointment system that is accessible to the entire base populace is currently in the works and should be up and running in the coming weeks. When making an appointment for registration, a confirmation letter will be sent to the user's Air Force e-mail account, which should be printed and brought to the appointment. When making the appointment, it's also important to pay close attention to the time and location selected. To register, you must bring your driver's license and all Department of Defense issued ID cards. If you have more than one DoD ID (i.e. a retiree ID and a CAC) bring all of them. Family members (age 16 and older) must be present to register, but the sponsor does not need to be present with the family member.
