Veterans day events and base facilities open

National 9/11 Flag Stitching
The City of St. Louis Soldiers' Military Memorial Museum will host The National 9/11 Flag Stitching Ceremony to honor local service heroes from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 11.
Several individuals will be recognized for their service and place a stitch in The National 9/11 Flag. After nominees and any dignitaries have come forward, others present will be invited to stitch in The National 9/11 Flag. For more information, visit the website www.national911flag.com.

City of O'Fallon
Ceremony starts at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Veterans Monument. Guest speaker is retired Brig. Gen. Brad Baker. VFW Post 805 Veterans Day Parade follows at 2 p.m.; parade begins at O'Fallon Community Park.

City of Belleville
Ceremony starts at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Public Square (the fountain). Scheduled guest speaker is Gen. Duncan McNabb, Commander of U.S. Transportation Command.

City of Mascoutah
Ceremony starts at 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the Mascoutah Community High School Gymnasium. Guest speaker is Capt. Angela Webb from the Department of Defense National Media Outreach Office.

Open on Veterans Day

The following base facilities will be open today, Veterans Day
- Stars and Strikes Bowling Center: Lanes open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; no breakfast
- Golf course: open 
- Golf Course Café: Closed (limited food available in the pro shop) 
- James Sports Center: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
- Nightingale Inn Dining Facility: Open for brunch 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.; supper 4 to 6 p.m.; Grab-n-Go 6 to 8 p.m.

As a reminder, the Scott Clinic will be closed. If you require care during this period, please call 256-WELL for medical assistance or 911 in the case of an emergency.
