The 345th Recruiting Squadron presented the Air Force Salutes Award to CrossFit TNT of St. Charles, Mo., Nov. 2 for their exemplary support of the 345th RCS at Scott Air Force Base and the Air Force Recruiting Service.

The Salutes Award is the highest honor the AFRS can give to a civilian or civilian organization that has provided important support to the AFRS mission.
"CrossFit TNT has shown great dedication to the Air Force Recruiting mission and commitment to our Airmen. We deeply appreciate their support," said Lt. Col. Christopher Byrom, 345th RCS commander, who presented the award.

Owned and operated by Rochelle Thayer, CrossFit TNT has contributed to the 345th RCS mission by offering training to enlistment applicants preparing for Battlefield Airman Jobs. CrossFit TNT instructors also come to Scott twice a month to help train the 345th RCS.

"And the results show," said Colonel Byrom. "Of 60 Air Force fitness tests conducted on our members last month with the new FAC testers, the squadron achieved 58 passes, including 23 'excellent' ratings. Of the remaining two, one test was incomplete due to injury, and we had only one failure."

The 345th RCS and CrossFit TNT began their relationship last year at the Sectional CrossFit Games where the squadron advertised to attract future Battlefield Airmen.
"Squadron leadership was very impressed by the CrossFit athletes and how their training would prepare new recruits for the Battlefield," said Staff Sgt. Ian Kline, the 345th RCS Marketing NCO. "This led us to advertise at the local gym looking for potential Battlefield Airman recruits."

Since then, Ms. Thayer and her CrossFit TNT staff have embraced the Air Force.
The 345th RCS recently presented the title of Honorary Recruiter to Ms. Thayer for her outstanding contributions to the Air Force Recruiting mission.

"CrossFit is functional training that prepares the Airmen and recruits for real word challenges they may face in the field," said Ms. Thayer. "It has been our pleasure to work with 345th RCS and its trainees; we look forward to supporting the Air Force in any way we can."

CrossFit is a nation-wide fitness training franchise that focuses on improving health and fitness through action and competition based fitness programs, and the organization has been tremendously supportive of the armed services across the country.
This is the first Salutes Award presented by the 345th RCS this fiscal year.
