Many avenues for updating Team Scott about snow closures Published Nov. 24, 2010 By 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- Scott Air Force Base gets an average of 13 inches of snow annually. With that amount of snowfall coming soon, it's time to start preparing for inclement weather delay notifications. Scott provides many avenues to find out the reporting status for base personnel: - Watch the same network news tickers that you check for your children's school closings. - Remember, Scott Elementary is in the Mascoutah School District. If Mascoutah schools are closed, Scott Elementary is also closed even if the base is open. - If the base is closed but Mascoutah schools are open then Scott Elementary is also open. -Check the Scott AFB website at www.scott.af.mil. -Call the Straight - Talk Line, 618-256-SAFB (7232). Do not call the command post for updates. n For those on base, and when applicable, tune in to AM 1060 for urgent messages. -Check the Scott Air Force Base Facebook page or Twitter (@ScottAirForceBase). Each of these venues will have the most up-to-date information often hours before the majority of personnel are due into work.
