Tax Center volunteers needed at Scott AFB Published Jan. 5, 2011 By 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The Scott AFB Tax Center needs volunteers to join its staff for the upcoming tax season. Volunteers can be active duty, family members, or retirees. They will assist taxpayers, prepare and file returns, answer basic tax questions, or assist with general office duties such as answering the telephone. Volunteers do not need prior experience in tax preparation. Training will be provided by the legal office starting Jan. 18. The Tax Program assisted thousands of people last year saving Airmen and family members over $282,000 in filing fees and expenses they otherwise would have had to pay civilian tax preparers for the same service. For more information, call 1st Lt. Scott Welch or Staff Sgt. Marissa Papion at 256-2358.
