Just ask Senior Airman Geena Poff. Recently Airman Poff, a member of the 375th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was named the 2010 Air Force Logistics Plans Airman of the year. She is tasked with ensuring every Team Scott member at the installation, including every tenant unit, detachment, and geographically separated unit, deploys on time with proper documentation, training, and supplies necessary. She said she couldn't have done it without the rest of the team. "I think that my whole office, including IPR (Installation Personnel Readiness) helped me in winning this award," said Airman Poff. "There is no way that I could have achieved this award without the support and mentorship of my co-workers and wingmen. I say this because our office as a whole is similar to a machine and much like a machine, without the dedication of each part of the machine; it will not function." In addition to her co-workers, she attributes her success to her parents. "My family raised me to persevere. I remember my mom always saying, 'Even if you are done with your chores, you find something else to do until the boss tells you to stop,'" said Airman Poff. "There are always things to be done no matter where you work, processes to mend, things to clean, or just loose papers to shred. With this proactive work ethic spread throughout the office, our team is unbeatable." Stationed at Scott for the last three years, her role as a log planner has recently changed. "My job as a log planner has recently changed from being in the deployments section to running the plans and programs section," said Airman Poff. "In October, I transitioned 'to the back' (as we like to call it). "There, myself and another Airman manage four different programs together including WRM (War Reserve Material), IGESP (In-Garrison Expedition Site Plan), Unit Type Code Management and Support Agreements. Each program is slightly different from one another, but each plays a significant role to the entire Air Force," she said. Knowing that she makes a difference every day is the most rewarding part of the job, she said. "The IDRC strategically sends the most precious cargo, be it a single Security Forces team going to defend an installation down-range in support of an operation, or blankets and MREs being shipped to Katrina, Haiti or Japan in support of the efforts to contribute to the relief," she said. "It is unbelievable that our output includes tactfully readying the force, preparing the battlefield, positioning the force, employing and sustaining the force and recovering the force." Presented annually for outstanding logistics performance, the award recognizes individuals within the logistics community for outstanding contributions to the success of Air Force and Department of Defense missions and extraordinary dedication and commitment to excellence.
