Marine week continues to June 26 Published June 22, 2011 By Samantha Crane 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs Scott Air Force Base, Ill. -- St. Louis' third annual Marine Week kicked off June 20 with a display of aerial precision over St Louis' biggest landmarks including the Gateway Arch and Busch Stadium. The festivities will continue until June 26 with the dozens of events scheduled to teach attendees what being a Marine is all about. All Marine Week events are free and open to the public. "Marine Week St. Louis is going to be a resounding success," said Marine Lt. Col. T. Shane Tomko, Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Commander for Marine Week St. Louis. "Our events will showcase the unique characteristics and military might of the Marine Corps, and reinforce our continued commitment to this community through the 30 outreach projects we have planned. I encourage the people of St. Louis to come out and meet their United States Marines." Friday and Saturday will begin with the Morning Colors raised at 8 a.m. at the St. Louis War Memorial. Other events set up throughout both days include a Wreath Laying Ceremony; a Military Science and Technology Expo; an Albany Marine Band Concert; a Land, Air and Sea Combat Demonstration and a Military Working Dog Demonstration. On Sunday, the week will draw to an end with a closing ceremony and Silent Drill Platoon Performance at the War Memorial.
