Special Needs Carnival at Youth Center July 16 Published July 7, 2011 By Airman 1st Class Jake Eckhardt 375th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Ill. -- The second annual Scott Air Force Base Special Needs Carnival is scheduled to be hosted at the Youth Center July 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The carnival will feature games, prizes and food like a typical carnival, but it also will be tailored to the interests of families of children who have special needs. To do so, it will have information fairs, awareness booths and a VIP room for siblings to teach them their special roles in the family. The carnival is hosted by Exceptional Family Member Program, Airman and Family Readiness Center and the Youth Center. "We make sure the environment isn't too chaotic," said Natalie Jackson, EFMP Family Support Coordinator. "We also offer access to an abundance of resources." The family support function of EFMP, operated by Ms. Jackson at Scott, is designed to provide support to families enrolled in the program. This support ranges from education programs to fun events for the whole family, such as the carnival and sensory friendly movies. For more information about the carnival, call the A&FRC at 256-8668.
