On July 8, the 375th Operations Group met their newest commander, Col. Pete Giusti during a change of command ceremony.

"The OG is a family of great resilient leaders and Airmen who look after one another to thrive at Leadership University--a legacy I know you will only continue and accelerate as you set about to fulfill our vision of providing award-winning combat support for the warfighter--always," said Col. Mike Hornitschek, 375th Air Mobility Wing commander, to Giusti during the ceremony.

Giusti says he is looking forward to being a part of the unique mission Scott offers.
"I look forward to being a part of the 375th OG and Air Mobility Wing team," said Giusti. "I am also looking forward to leading this great team and taking part in our incredibly diverse mission. It's a one-of-a-kind OG, and it's exciting to be able to be a part of a world-class team."

In terms of his plans for the 375th OG, Giusti intends to help guide the 375th OG through the inevitable transformation that the future has in store for them.

"The Air Force and Department of Defense are going through a lot of challenges and changes during the next couple of years." said Giusti. "I want to help us transition and as those changes occur to ensure we maintain the great service that we have supporting our nation's troops and our senior military and civilian leadership. We owe it to them to continue to provide flawless support."

Though Giusti knows there may be challenges ahead, he feels that, with the right mindset, one can overcome any problem.

"We are a very small percentage of the Unites States population, and it is really something honorable that we do." he said. "Don't forget why you came into the Air Force and that what you're doing is incredibly important. Remember that what you are doing is for the good of the whole, not just for yourself."

Giusti is originally from Castle Rock, Colo. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Science from Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colo., and was commissioned as an Air Force second lieutenant in May 1988 through the University of Colorado Air Force ROTC program. He earned his pilot wings in March 1990 at Williams Air Force Base, Ariz., and began his flying career at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Giusti has flown worldwide strategic and VIP-support airlift missions supporting exercise, contingency, combat and diplomatic operations as well as serving on both MAJCOM and Combatant Command staffs. He is a command pilot with more than 3,800 hours in the C-37A, C-20H, C-9A, C-141B, and C-21A.

"I'm honored to be here and to have been entrusted with the 375th Operations Group," said Giusti.
