Change of command at AFGLSC Published July 27, 2011 By Burt Foutz AFGLSC Public Affairs Scott Air Force Base, Ill. -- The Air Force Global Logistics Support Center welcomed Brig. Gen. H. Brent Baker, Sr., as their newest commander July 22, while also bidding farewell to Maj. Gen. Gary T. McCoy. Gen. Donald Hoffman, Commander, Air Force Materiel Command, presided over the ceremony. This change of command gave AFGLSC its third commander since the unit's stand-up in March 2008. Its first commander--then, Col. H. Brent Baker, Sr., now Brig. Gen. Baker--retakes the reins of AFGLSC as its third commander, as well, after finishing a tour as Director of Logistics for Pacific Air Forces. "Who says you can't come home?" Baker asked during the ceremony. "I am excited and honored to be back at Scott, leading the premier supply chain organization, an organization that directly supports the warfighter each and every day. It's also been great to reconnect with so many logistics professionals and friends." During the same ceremony, McCoy retired after 42 years of military service. McCoy enlisted in the Air Force in August 1969, later completed his degree work and accepted a commission in July 1976. During his career, McCoy said, he held many key positions, but felt being commander of AFGLSC--a unit he'd been instrumental in founding when he served on the Air Staff--was the perfect culmination to his career. "So many things have happened over these last 42 years," he said. But the one thing that has always remained constant, and always will remain constant, is the dedication and professionalism of the men and women who dedicate their lives to serving this nation, whether it is in uniform or as a civilian. It is with great pride that I say I am honored to have served with you. I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful memories I will take with me."
