Scott AFB bio-environmental specialists and explosive ordnance disposal technicians have found nothing of significance at the Official Mail Center here.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., two U.S. postal workers and a military mail specialist experienced adverse reactions to handling mail. The three received medical care at Memorial Hospital and were released. Thirteen other personnel were decontaminated on site as a precautionary measure, and one other person later self-identified and went through the decontamination process.

U.S. Postal inspectors are continuing to investigate the cause of the adverse reactions.

The U.S. Postal office desk will be open for business and personal mail boxes will be available. The Official Mail Center will remain closed. All adjacent buildings have been reopened.

There are no specific threats to Scott AFB or personnel here. There is no immediate threat to surrounding communities.
