Scott personnel involved with military comptroller’s symposium Published Oct. 19, 2011 By Candace Osborne Air Force Audit Agency Scott Air Force Base, Ill. -- On Nov. 2, the American Society of Military Comptroller's Land of Lincoln Chapter will host the 2011 Mini Professional Development Institute Symposium at the Four Points Sheraton in Fairview Heights, Illinois. The ASMC President, Richard Weathers, Director of Plans and Programs Directorate, Air Force Network Integration Center, and the Mini PDI Chair President, Yolanda Wilkes, Management and Program Analyst, welcomes everyone to the event. The day-long conference allows local financial managers an opportunity for education, reflection and info-sharing with each other. The theme of this year's symposium is "Building Education and Training Today, for Financial Management Success Tomorrow," emphasizing the importance of continuing higher education and career specific training to maintain competitive career goals in today's transitioning work force. Maj. Gen. Gregory Couch, Chief of Staff, U.S. Transportation Command will open the event following with several key note speakers: Maj. Gen. Alfred K. Flowers - Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Budget, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management and Comptroller; Michelle Jones - Special Assistant and Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary of Defense and the Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense - Personnel and Readiness; James L. McGinley SES, Director of Program Analysis and financial Management, USTRANSCOM; and Devin Henderson - Comedic entertainer for ending the event with personal motivation and training experience combined with a little magic. In addition to the speakers, this event will feature a variety of vendors and sponsors from the local community, government, and industry. The Land of Lincoln Chapter is a community centric organization which focus on the support of its' dedicated membership encouraging symposium participants to either donate resources in support of the Violence Prevention Center or bring nonperishable food items in support of the local food banks.
