Due to recent changes in the Illinois Products Recycling and Reuse Act (Public Act 097-0287), effective Jan. 1 the Chief Master Sgt. Gene R. Collins' Airman's Attic will no longer accept some electronics. The legislation expands the number of covered electronic products in Illinois from four to 17. The act also imposes severe penalties for improper disposal of electronics.

The legislation added a more complex way to evaluate the electronics the Airman's Attic has accepted, and the limited way it can dispose of outdated electronics.
Waste management companies can no longer accept electronics in their disposal sites without suffering severe penalties. Therefore, disposal in the Airman's Attic dumpster is not acceptable.
