Col. Mark McCloud assumed command of the 375th Mission Support Group June 29 at Scott Air Force Base.

Scott AFB is his 10th assignment during his 22 years in the Air Force.

"I'm excited to be back at Scott," he said. "My family and I love the area, and I'm excited to be the leader of a great team."

McCloud graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology and was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1990. He has held various positions as an Air Force civil engineer officer at the base, major command, and Air Staff levels, including command of three civil engineer squadrons.

He started his career in February 1991 at K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base, Mich., and continued his career at Woomera Air Station, Australia from June 1995 to August 1997. McCloud was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Ala., from August 1997 to June 2001. His fourth assignment brought him to Scott for his first tour from June 2001 to May 2004, and he held various other assignments to Travis Air Force Base, Calif., Kunsan Air Base, Korea, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., and the Pentagon.

"It's been good to see the Air Force's perspective at all these different levels," he said. "It's eye-opening to see how we work with all the other branches."

The commander has learned what to expect out of his Airmen.

"There are three things really. First and foremost is to live by the core values. The second is to foster trust, teamwork and continuous improvement. Lastly, take care of themselves and everyone around them," he said.

"I have a great team to work with," he said. "My philosophy is that we should all leave a place better than we found it, so that's my goal for my time here at Scott."
